Experiences Learned and Cherished Memories

A Journey Through GEMS Westminster RAK

Written By: Wareesha Zaib, Grade 8

As GEMS WSR celebrates its 10th anniversary, I would like to share a few words of appreciation. As I embark on new paths of learning in my life, I carry with me the lessons learned and cherished memories from my time at school. I am filled with gratitude for the encouragement that has shaped me into who I am today, and I am eager to carry that spirit of empowerment wherever I go.

The first day of school marked the beginning of a bright future. That's what I believed, and it turned out to be true. It was like stepping into a new universe. As I entered GEMS WSR, my chest was filled with excitement. The corridors echoed with laughter, and I could hear children whispering about their dreams. I felt the magic of friendship, learning, and growth.

From the moment I stepped into the classrooms, I was surrounded by teachers who assured me that I belonged here and that I was capable of achieving great things. The classrooms were filled with enthusiasm, and I knew this was the place where I could shape my future. Every day brought new experiences. I admired the mysteries of Maths and Science and was in awe of how magnificently these teachers taught such amazing lessons.

They challenged me to think critically, question boldly, and never settle for less than my best. With their guidance and support, I began to believe in my own abilities, knowing I was destined to accomplish great things. I aimed to make groundbreaking discoveries, be the next Marie Curie, and use my talents to help the world.

But it wasn't just academics; it was the collaboration and friendships that helped me along the way. They taught me how to face obstacles with confidence and how collaboration can reveal new skills within myself. Good collaboration with my teachers enabled me to work confidently towards achieving greater milestones.

Competitions have always been a significant part of my life. Each competition encourages me, enhances my skills, and motivates me to challenge myself beyond expectations. One of the most memorable competitions was the Quran, Hadith, and Speech competition. I spent days practicing and perfecting my speech on how Islam teaches gratitude and how WSR promotes this value. As I delivered my speech with confidence, I noticed the impressed looks on the judges' faces, giving me a sigh of relief.

When the winners were announced, I was in disbelief that I had placed 2nd. I felt immense pride as I collected my trophy from Miss Nicole. These competitions weren't just about winning; they were about growth and personal development. Each taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, resilience, and the importance of stepping outside my comfort zone. I am thankful for GEMS WSR for organising such competitions, which give students the opportunity to strive for excellence and never settle for less than their best. While these memories may fade, the lessons and experiences will always be cherished.

As this year ends, I stand here as the top girl in Grade 8 for the highest marks in examinations. I am humbled and grateful for the roles my teachers played throughout my academic journey, providing unwavering support and inspiring me to strive for brilliance. My hard work this academic year has paid off, and I am proud of my achievements.

Thank you, WSR, for playing an invaluable role in my academic journey and achievements.

Thank you for all the memorable experiences. I will always be grateful for the opportunity to be part of the one tribe, one family at GEMS WSR.
